From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Steven Gerrard will make his final appearance at Anfield before leaving Liverpool n the summer when they take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
To commemorate the day, which Gerrard has already admitted will be an “emotional one”, adidas have written a message to the former England captain inside the special football boots that he will wear for the match.
Designed with Liverpool’s red and white colours as the base, the message can be seen to read: “You leave a legend, you’ll return a hero. The city of Liverpool is always with you. You’ll never walk alone.”
Gerrard made his debut for Liverpool 17 years ago and has gone on to captain both club and country, having retired from international football following last summer’s Worodl Cup, but he will bring the curtain down on his stay at the club next weekend in the final Premier League game of the season against Stoke.
Not ready to hang up his boots yet though, Gerrard will follow in the footsteps of David Beckham and Robbie Keane in moving to the MLS and joining LA Galaxy.
