Steven Bergwijn scored a stunning goal to give Tottenham the lead over Manchester United as the Premier League returned to north London.

Bergwijn, who signed for Spurs last summer for £27m, collected the ball midway into the United half and dribbled at the defence, weaving his way into the box before smashing a shot through David de Gea.

Gary Neville, talking on Sky Sports, was not impressed with the United goalkeeper's effort. "David de Gea will be extremely disappointed, he's got to save that," said co-commentator Neville.

United had started positively at an empty Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but could not convert their early momentum into meaningful chances.
