Sheffield United welcome Southampton to Bramall Lane in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blades pulled off an almighty upset in a chaotic game against Aston Villa last time out, with David McGoldrick opening the scoring after 30 minutes before Phil Jagielka’s red card forced Chris Wilder’s side to desperately cling on to all three points.

Sheffield United remain rooted to the bottom of the table, although they now boast 14 points, leaving them a further 12 adrift from safety. Mathematically, survival is still possible, but it would take the most tremendous of efforts.

They will certainly have a chance of victory against a Southampton side desperately short of confidence, though. The Saints have lost eight out of their nine last games, with that dismal run punctuated by the club’s harrowing 9-0 defeat by Manchester United.

That run has not only wrecked a marvellous first half of the season that had Southampton dreaming of European qualification but left them just seven points clear of the relegation zone. Here is everything you need to know:

Phil Jagielka is suspended while Jack O’Connell, Chris Basham and John Egan are all out injured. Jack Robinson is also expected to miss out, as is Jayden Bogle.

Takumi Minamino, Kyle Walker-Peters and Ibrahima Diallo are all racing to be fit in time to feature, however, the match will come too soon for Theo Walcott, Oriol Romeu and Will Smallbone.
