Sadio Mane has broken Robbie Fowler's record for the fastest Premier League hat-trick in history after scoring three goals inside three minutes during Southampton's match against Aston Villa.

With Villa looking to secure their Premier League status for another season and Saints drifting into the summer with little to play for, you’d have been forgiven for believing Villa could upset the odds at St Mary’s.

Not a chance.

After 16 minutes, Mane had strck three times and Saints were leading 3-0. After a lapse in concentration at the back in the 14th minute between Ron Vlaar and Jores Okre, Mane was able to slip in and convert a chance via a lucky dflection off goalkeeper Shay Given.

Just two minutes later, Vlaar’s woeful backpass to Given left the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper stranded and allowed Mane to slip in and strike the ball home first time.

And inside a minute later, Mane found himself with time to shoot from the edge of the area to make it three and put the game to bed before most people has realised Saints were even leading.

His triple-strike was offically record as coming in two minutes and 56 seconds, and breaks Robbie Fowler’s record of four minutes and 33 seconds set back in August 1994 during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Arsenal.

Well done Sir.
