Robinho insists he's staying at Manchester City

Manchester City striker Robinho have moved to quash rumours that he will be leaving Eastland's this summer.

The Brazilian, who cost City a British transfer record £32.5m, has been in poor form since the turn of the year, fuelling speculation that he was unhappy at the club.

Yet Sunday's match against West Brom did bring a slight change in fortune when he netted his first goal since 28 December.

He told Manchester City's official website today: "Expectations are high about how the team will do but my aim is to remain here for a long time to come."

He continued: "The manager gives me total confidence and the team help me to produce my best football.

"That goal gives me a lot more confidence to score more in the matches that we have left.

"There are no regrets on my part about coming here. Of course this is only my first year, and I try to get better and better every year. Hopefully in the future I will be even happier at this football club."

City manager Mark Hughes has always maintained that there have been no problems with the Brazilian, something Robinho agrees with: "My relationship with the manager is very good. Our manager is a very good manager, an excellent manager."
