From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Arjen Robben fears he has broken his foot again and could be out for the rest of the season.
The Dutch international said he knew instantly something was wrong when he was fouled after scoring Chelsea's winning goal at Blackburn in midweek. Now he fears he may have suffered a recurrence of the injury that ruled him out for almost three months in pre-season.
Even if there has not been a break, Robben is resigned to being sidelined for some weeks just as the League leaders' season goes into overdrive. "This is a disaster - everything was going so well," he said. "It is a massive blow and comes just at the moment when I was in top shape and very fit.
"But now it is worthless and I have to fight back for the second time this season. I hate it because I know I am probably out of the game for weeks and weeks."
A medical examination on Friday was inconclusive because the swelling was so bad and Robben fears the worst when he returns to hospital for further tests.
He said: "Even now, I feel that one of the bones in my foot is broken again."
