From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

"If you took what he said seriously, you would end up in a mental home. It is not worth bothering about," Redknapp said of the Portsmouth chairman. He was responding to the latest outburst from Mandaric in which he blamed Redknapp for the problems Portsmouth are facing, having lost eight of their last 10 Premiership games.
Mandaric said the temporary Portsmouth manager Velimir Zajec was "10 times more of an asset than the previous people we have had here. It was the previous management that screwed things up and we are still trying to put things right."
Redknapp, whose South-ampton side face Manchester United in the FA Cup tomorrow, responded: "I can't be bothered to answer him, it is so pathetic. How did I do them any damage? I took them from fourth from bottom of the First Division to mid-table in the Premiership. I feel sorry for him."
The latest spat will do little to end the ill-feeling, especially as Southampton visit Ports-mouth on 24 April.
