From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

Real Madrid are lining up a £20m bid for Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic according to reports.

The Spanish giants are eager to sure up their leaky defence and it's been claimed they have targeted the Serbian as the ideal man for the job.

Having snatched Cristiano Ronaldo from Old Trafford last summer, Ferguson will have to prepare to defend one of his star assets again with Real expected to make a summer bid.

Vidic is contracted at Old Trafford until 2012 but has been consistently linked with a move away from the champions amid rumours that his wife Ana wants to move to a warmer climate.
