Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Colombian has not played since the 2-2 draw with West Brom on 20 October and has struggled for form and fitness at his new club, with just one goal so far this season.
After suffering a severe knee injury that kept him out of the World Cup, Falcao's had an ongoing problem this season that means he is yet to complete 90 minutes for United.
But the 28-year-old hinted that he could be back for the match against Hull at Old Trafford on Saturday.
"Back to training 100% and ready to help the team in the next games," said Falcao on Twitter.
United also posted a picture saying he had recovered from a calf injury.
Despite the 2-1 win at Arsenal on Saturday night, Manchester United striker Robin van Persie was virtually anonymous, touching the ball just 12 times in the 90 minutes and failing to have a shot on goal.
