Falcao's arrival at Old Trafford on transfer deadline day saw him become one of very few Colombians to join the Premier League. Carlos Sánchez, who joined Aston Villa this summer, is the only other currently in England's top flight.
But perhaps the most famous Colombian to feature in the Premier League prior to Falcao's arrival was Asprilla.
The winger joined Newcastle in 1996 and quickly became a favourite on the terraces thanks to his energetic, gangly legged displays.
Having seen his countryman Falcao join Manchester United on loan, Asprilla has backed him to impress.
"He (Falcao) is a great goalscorer, a natural finisher and he is among the best in the world in that position," Asprilla told Sky Sports.
There are concerns over Falcao's fitness with the striker having played very little football since picking up an injury earlier this year that ruled him out of the World Cup. However, Asprilla does not believe this should be a concern.
"He will be fine (physically) because he has had ample time to recover and his therapy has been great so he should be 100 per cent.
"I'm sure he will do very well for Manchester United."
Falcao is expected to make his debut this weekend when Manchester United host QPR.
