Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Stoke may be tempted to start Kenwyne Jones against the side which had a £3m bid for the forward rejected this week. Jones did not feature much for Stoke earlier in the season, but has recently regained his place in the starting line-up and scored the opening goal in the win against Palace.
Ninth-placed Swansea are seven points adrift of a European place, but could climb as high as seventh if they register their eighth win of the season on Saturday.
Swansea were beaten 1-0 at Arsenal in the FA Cup midweek, but remain buoyed by an unbeaten run of seven matches in all competitions before their trip to the Emirates Stadium.
Michael Laudrup made six changes to the Swansea side that drew with Everton in the Premier League against Arsenal and is expected to make a similar amount of altercations on Saturday, as they look to continue their good run.
