Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

During last weekend’s fixture against Swansea, Roberto Mancini was able to withdraw Yaya Toure at half time as his side played out a dull 0-0 draw. He is expected to make full use of his squad in anticipation of Saturday’s trip to Wembley.
Last season’s corresponding fixture ended 4-0 to City and Mancini will hope for more of the same as Chelsea moved to within just fourpoints of last season’s Champions with three games to go.
West Brom, with little to play for in 8th position, face an uphill task as the Citizens have dropped just two points at the Etihad since the turn of the year. The Baggies will look to prodigious talent Romelu Lukaku to build on his already impressive 14 league goals this term.
Steve Clarke was less than satisfied with his side’s defending in their previous outing against strugglers Wigan and will hope to see an improvement in that department. Given this, and the fact that Mancini will want to safeguard his players from any injuries, the game is likely to be a stale affair. However, with Manchester City still to secure second place, this expectation may yet be proved wrong.
