Their opponents could only manage a goalless draw in the Merseyside derby against Everton, but Liverpool are now unbeaten in eight Premier League matches although they remain outside the top six.
A win against Spurs will be crucial for their aspirations of qualifying for Europe next season. Daniel Sturridge made an appearance for 35 minutes against Everton as his comeback from injury continues, and Brendan Rodgers’ favoured striker has timed his return well with a Europa League clash against Besiktas around the corner.
Rodgers will be focusing his attentions on how to shackle the in-form Spurs striker Harry Kane, who scored twice on Saturday. Kane now has 22 goals to his name this season and has been central to a run of four wins in five league games that has seen the club rise to fifth place and firmly into Champions League contention.
However, Liverpool will be encouraged by their superb recent record in this fixture, as they have scored 12 goals and conceded none in their last three matches against Spurs.
