Liverpool could go into their match against Southampton with two first choice defenders missing through injury. Glen Johnson is definitely ruled out with an ankle injury whilst Daniel Agger is a doubt.

Mamadou Sakho, Liverpool’s summer signing from PSG is likely to continue if Agger (side strain) does not start.

Recent Southampton buy Dani Osvaldo is still in search of his first goal for the club. Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping he scores against Liverpool following his £13m transfer from Roma in the summer, and is expected to once again partner Rickie Lambert up front.

Saturday:15.00.

Southampton 3 (Schneiderlin, Lambert Rodriguez) Liverpool 1 (Coutinho), Premier League, March 2013

Liverpool 1 (Agger) Southampton 0, Premier League, December 2012

Southampton 2 (Prutton, Crouch) Liverpool 0, Premier League, January 2005

Stats

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has scored in every Premier League game this season. Three of them were winners in 1-0 victories for the Reds.

Southampton have only managed to score two league goals this season, with centre-back Jose Fonte joining Rickie Lambert as joint top scorer.

Southampton’s recent record against Liverpool is very strong, having won four of the last six meetings between the two sides.

Odds
