Having lost to rivals Liverpool earlier in the season, United fans shelled out for a banner to be flown over Anfield reading “United 20 Gerrard 0”, making light of the fact that the Liverpool captain looks set to fall short in his quest to land a maiden Premier League trophy.
It is not the first time the banner idea has been utilised by some United fans, as the coughed up over £800 earlier in the season to parade “Wrong One – Moyes out” above Old Trafford at the start of the 4-1 victory over Aston Villa. Less than a month later, Moyes was sacked.
