Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

If you are anything approaching a normal and levelheaded person then the return of the Premier League is important for one reason and one reason only: kits. Lots and lots of new kits.

Forget the opening weekend of the season. Forget transfer deadline day. And forget the festive fixture pile-up. Proper football fans know the one day that truly decides the season — and that’s kit day.

As the great Gok Wan once famously opined, ‘it’s all about the confidence!’, and a great set of kits can provide the kind of solid foundations needed to construct a title-winning campaign. Meanwhile those slapped with a sad set of fugly strips can see their hopes for the season ended before they’ve even began.

In the gallery below, we have ranked and rated every single one of the new Premier League kits for your viewing pleasure. It’s been a good year for the likes of Leicester City and Liverpool, but a torrid one for north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Both sets of fans better prepare themselves for relegation imminently.

And remember — if your club is unfairly low in these rankings, it’s because of the covert mainstream media bias against them. We’re sorry, we know it’s unfair, but those are the rules.
