Narrow defeats to Hull, Arsenal and Tottenham have left the Hoops three points adrift of safety as the battle for survival draws to a frantic finale.
Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew will have pinpointed this fixture as an important one to pick up three points from and put some real distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Moroccan midfielder Adel Taarabt had given the visitors the lead with a well-taken finish before Kieron Cadogan smashed home a late leveller. However, there was still time for Helguson to bundle home a late winner to ensure Neil Warnock a happy return to his former club.
