From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Southampton will be vying to return to the top three of the Premier League when they play Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints have endured a torrid time in recent weeks and have lost their last three. They will be desperate to bounce back against low-lying Burnley and claim a league win for the first time since they beat Leicester 2-0 on 8 November.

Burnely remain second from bottom, two points from safety, after their four-match unbeaten run was brought to an end by Queens Park Rangers last weekend. The Clarets have only beaten Southampton once in their last six meetings at Turf Moor.

Southampton were heavily criticised earlier this week for lacking a clinical edge in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Monday night. However, they remain a robust defensive outfit, having conceded only 12 goals in the league this season, fewer than any other top flight team.
