Phil Jones will reportedly sign a new contract with Manchester United this week.

The England international has just a year to run on his current deal and speculation had been beginning to mount over his future.

However, that looks likely to end with reports suggesting an agreement has been reached over an £80,000-a-week contract.

Defensive partner Chris Smalling agreed a new contract on similar terms in April.

The development comes despite Manchester United's pursuit of Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos. Louis van Gaal is hopeful of bringing the Spain international to Old Trafford as part of a deal that will see David De Gea move in the opposite direction.
