From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Professional Footballers’ Association have confirmed the Premier League Team of the Season for 2016.

Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City boast the largest contingent of players, with four players each. Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham United each have one representative.

The top-flight’s leading goalscorer Harry Kane included for the second consecutive year and is partnered by Jamie Vardy, whose goals have taken the Foxes to the brink of a remarkable title win.

David De Gea, Manchester United’s goalkeeper, also appears for the second successive season, while Dimitri Payet, a summer signing for West Ham, makes the cut after his first season in English football.

The professional footballers’ trade union were forced to announce this season’s Team of the Year early after a leak on social media.

The Team of the Year is normally revealed on the day of the trade union’s award ceremony, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday.
