From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Pep Guardiola has said he has not received any offers to manage other clubs amid speculation linking him with Manchester City.
The former Barcelona coach would be the number one choice if the reigning Premier League champions make a change, owing chiefly to Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain having worked with him at the Nou Camp and coveting the style of possession passing football that Guardiola has made his trademark.
A change of manager at the Etihad appears to have become a real possibility due to recent results. Defeat to Barcelona looks to have ended any hopes of progress in the Champions League whilst a 2-1 loss to Liverpool has seen Chelsea disappear further into the Premier League title horizon. Should Manchester City end the season without a trophy Manuel Pellegrini could be dismissed.
But it seems that Soriano and Begiristain will be rejected if they approach Guardiola.
The Bayern Munich manager has a year to run on his existing contract, and whilst there has been no sign of him extending his deal with the Bundesliga leaders and champions, he appears keen to at least honour his current deal.
"Of course I'll stay here. I haven't had a contract offer and I am not waiting for a contract offer from anyone else," he said.
"I'm happy here at Bayern, my only idea right now is to stay and work for this club here.
"I can stay in this club five or six years even. This also depends on the players. I'm not the most important thing for the club."
Should there be a change of management at Manchester City and Guardiola is unmovable, The Independent understands Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers would then top the club's list of targets.
