Luis Suarez believes that Paul Pogba is the kind of player that should be part of a more competitive team and has opened the door for him to join to Barcelona.

Pogba was linked with a move to Barcelona during the summer transfer window after reportedly falling out with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. The French World Cup winner said that he feared being fined if he explained how he really felt at Old Trafford.

Barcelona were reportedly interested in signing Pogba in the summer but a a move did not materialise, although Suarez said that he would be very welcome addition to the Spanish champions.

“Pogba’s an elite player who’s won everything,” Suarez told Catalonian radio station RAC1. “He has a lot of quality and he is a key player for United.

“I think he would like to be competing for more than he is at the moment. He's not a player that belongs to Barca, but he would always be welcome.”

Suarez’s compliments come just over a week after Gerrard Pique said he would be happy to see Pogba play at the Camp Nou. “We would be happy to have him here,” said the former United defender. “I know little about what he is going through in Manchester and the relationship that exists (between Mourinho and Pogba.”

Pogba captained United in their opening two games of the season and has had a mixed start to the Premier League. He scored from the spot against Leicester and Brighton, but in the defeat against the Seagulls and Tottenham he looked unable to command the game from midfield.
