Manchester United news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer backs Paul Pogba to continue taking penalties

Rashford scored from the spot against Chelsea in Manchester United’s first game of the season, and has a faultless record from 12 yards for the club, but ceded duties to Pogba with the midfielder keen to take the winning the penalty against Wolves on Monday evening.
Pogba has now missed four penalties since the start of last season, but manager Solskjaer has backed the player and will not change his approach to who takes them.
“I’m sure you’re going to see Paul Pogba score a penalty for Man United again. Definitely," he said.
“Let’s see when we get the next one. We’re practising penalties still and Marcus and Paul are still on them.”
Solskjaer has been criticised after admitting he does not assign duties to a single player, with Rashford and Pogba deciding between them who will take each penalty.
Former captain and pundit Gary Neville referred to the incident as “embarrassing”, but Solskjaer has affirmed his control over situation amid wider questions of his authority.
“It’s not that I’ve left it to the players to sort out, we’ve nominated two. It’s not like there’s anarchy and do whatever you want. Last season we had Marcus, Jesse (Lingard), Paul, who all scored penalties, probably more as well.
“(There’s) absolutely no fighting among them. We’re disappointed that we didn’t win the game but the talk is always more difficult when you don’t get a result.”
