Paul Pogba’s recent struggles at Manchester United have seen him suggest this is the worst period he has ever faced as a player - and a former team-mate is urging him to move on.

The United No. 6 has been in and out of the team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, failing to find top form in an inconsistent team, and while on international duty this week said he has “never known such a difficult period” and was glad to be away with his national team for a change of scenery.

Similarly, manager Didier Deschamps has said it can’t be easy for the United man at present, particularly with some calling for him to be sold and others saying he simply has to be in the line-up.

Pogba remains a key player for the French national team, where he was a starter as they won the FIFA World Cup in 2018, but his club future remains less certain.

And he has now been encouraged to rejoin former club Juventus, by his old midfield team-mate Claudio Marchisio.

Since originally signing for United as a 16-year-old from Le Havre, Pogba has only played for those two sides: briefly the Old Trafford club as a youngster, then four years for Juve before his £89 million move back to Manchester.

After Pogba posted on social media about “looking forward” with the French national team, Marchisio responded to the man he played in midfield with in Turin.

"Please Paul Pogba, come to Juventus," he said. “You will be happy again…me too!”

Another member of that Juve midfield, Andrea Pirlo, is now the head coach of the Serie A champions.

Pogba won the league title every year in Italy as well as two cups, but his only successes in Manchester so far have been the League Cup and Europa League, both back in 2017.
