Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has challenged his team-mates to carry on their terrific winning run to keep the pressure on Chelsea until the end of the season.
The Gunners won 1-0 at Burnley on Saturday to record their eighth successive Premier League victory, making them the first team this season to achieve the feat. It is also the first time Arsenal won eight league matches in a row since in their unbeaten 'Invincibles' season of 2003/04.
"We know about the record of the Invincibles," the French striker said after the game. "It's really good for us to be near that and I'm really proud to take part. But we don't want to stop here. We want to carry on and keep this good run going until the end.
"If we had been told we would win this game 1-0 I would have signed for it straight away. Burnley played really tough against us. It was a big fight.
"As long as we were winning the game I don't think we were in too much danger. We are really pleased."
The Gunners are seven points behind leaders Chelsea, although the Blues also have a game in hand.
