Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 41-year-old has revealed he has been talking regularly to his former captain at Manchester United, Roy Keane, a fine player - but he lost nearly double the amount of matches he had won as manager in the Premier League.
Keane, now the Republic of Ireland assistant manager, had 53 Premier League matches in charge of Sunderland between August 2007 and November 2008, winning 15, drawing 9 and losing 29.
"Roy has been a great help to me in my time at Cardiff," Solskjaer said. "Everybody I talk to tells me to be myself - and don't ever change.
"I don't feel alone in this situation because I have great staff around me and we are working through this together.
"I feel equipped for this job and would not have taken it if I did not feel I was ready."
On a positive note, Solskjaer also says he has been talking to Sir Alex Ferguson, and he didn't do too badly, did he?
