Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 20-year-old was set to join the Cottagers this week after Roma and Fulham reached an agreement for the player to move to the London outfit on a six-month loan deal.
However, the move was delayed due to the Italy Under-21 striker having yet to finalise terms with the Barclays Premier League outfit.
"Everything is okay," said Okaka's agent Domenico Scopelliti to tuttomercatoweb.com.
"Fulham wants the lad and Okaka wants Fulham. On Monday he will fly to London.
"There have been no problems regarding the financial aspect with Fulham.
"The only delay has been due to a fax or an email that we were supposed to receive.
"Okaka will join Fulham for six months with an option that Fulham can exercise to extend the loan deal for a further 12 months.
"This was crucial as it would allow the player more time to adapt."
Fulham are looking to reinforce their attack with Bobby Zamora currently sidelined through injury.
Okaka has made six league appearances for Claudio Ranieri's side this season and is under contract with the Serie A club until June 2012.
