Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Roma are willing to loan out the 20-year-old following the arrival of Italy striker Luca Toni to the Eternal City from Bayern Munich.
"If the player will reach an agreement with Fulham, he will go to England on loan for the next six months, with an option of extending his stay for the following year," Okaka's agent Domenico Scopelliti told www.calciomercatoweb.com.
"Roma and Fulham appear to have reached an agreement on a loan deal."
Fulham are looking to reinforce their attacking line with Bobby Zamora currently sidelined through injury.
Okaka has made six league appearances for Claudio Ranieri's side this season and is under contract with the Serie A club until June 2012.
Roma sporting director Daniele Prade believes Fulham is the ideal club for Okaka to prove his worth.
He told asromanews.it: "It's a deal which we really like.
"We believe in Stefano.
"He is 20 and the Premier League is the right tournament for him to prove his characteristics and potential.
"(Roy) Hodgson has already stated his full confidence in the player, the only thing missing is Stefano's signature."
