Defending went out of the window at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon as Liverpool recorded a thrilling 5-4 victory over Norwich, with substitute Adam Lallana the man to thank for the Reds after hitting the ball home deep into injury time.

Liverpool took the lead through a neat fiunish from striker Roberto Firmino, and despite getting a foot to the shot, goalkeeper Declan Rudd was unable to keep the ball from hitting the post and finding the back of the net.

Norwich soon levelled though through a precise back-heel from Dieumerci Mbokani, and the Canaries were soon ahead when debutant Steven Naismith accurately drilled the ball underneath Simon Mignolet’s right arm.

Things got even better for Norwich when Alberto Moreno needlessly brought down Naismith in the Liverpool penalty area, and midfielder Wes Hoolahan converted from the spot to stretch the lead.

But back came Liverpool immediately as captain Jordan Henderson swept home an effort from the edge of the area, and they were level when Firmino tapped home for his second of the day. When James Milner broke free after a terrible Russell Martin back-opass, he made up for spuring an earlier chance to put Liverpool ahead.

That was until the second minute of injury-time, when defender Sebastian Bassong drilled home an effort from outside the area to give what Norwich fans believed was a share of the points.

But after a poor headed clearance from Robbie Brady that saw the ball bounce in the middle of the Norwich area in the 95th minute, Lallana appeared to rifle the ball into the ground and give Liverpool the victory.
