Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is facing a short spell on the sidelines after injuring his shoulder.

The German missed Sunday's 1-0 victory over Newcastle in the Premier League after hurting his shoulder during the win over West Ham on Thursday. Manager Arsene Wenger said he expects Ozil to miss Wednesday's game against Cardiff, but that he should return early next month.

Wenger says "it is an inflamed shoulder. It should be maybe one more week, maybe less. I don't know, but not a long time."

Arsenal was already without Aaron Ramsey, who has a thigh problem, while Thomas Vermaelen and Nacho Monreal missed Sunday's game with illness.
