From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. If there are any Arsenal fans still having lingering doubts about their £42m star Mesut Ozil, then the German is trying his hardest to adhere to the Gunners’ faithful and in the best possible way.
The 25-year-old took to Facebook to quote club legend Tony Adams’ famous words; "play for the name on the front of the shirt and they’ll remember the name on the back", accompanying a picture of Ozil celebrating for the Gunners.
The post, which received over 235,000 likes in 17 hours, is a shrewd way to win over any stubborn Arsenal supporters still unsure of last summer’s big money signing.
Ozil has scored five times in the league this season with ten assists but missed several weeks due to a hamstring injury and struggled for form after an initial good start.
Arsenal will want much more from their marquee signing next season but Ozil’s social media prowess would seem to be doing the trick off the pitch at least.
