Mauricio Pochettino delighted with Tottenham’s home form as Wembley run continues

Mauricio Pochettino hailed how Tottenham have conquered the “difficult feeling” of playing home games at Wembley as they won their seventh straight game here, ahead of Wednesday’s game against Juventus.

Spurs beat Huddersfield Town 2-0 today and will host the Italian champions this week, knowing that if they avoid defeat, or a high-scoring draw, they will be in the Champions League quarter-finals. It marks a remarkable turnaround for them since the start of the season and Pochettino was delighted with the application of the players to improve their form at their temporary home.

“I am so pleased,” Pochettino said when asked about their home form. “I think it's a fantastic run at home. We can say Wembley is our home and that is so important for the team since the beginning of the season and last season when we used to play here in the Champions League or Europa League, it was a strange feeling, a difficult feeling.”

Spurs are set to leave Wembley next season and return to the new White Hart Lane but Pochettino said it is no longer a problem to play in this corner of north west London. “Now I think for our fans and us, it's like our home,” he said. “The team feel ok and good and when the result is positive, always everything is much better.”

So Spurs will be in great home form for the Juventus game and Pochettino told his players to enjoy such a big match, as important as it is. “I think it's a game of football,” he said when asked how Spurs are feeling for it.

“Our approach will be the same as the first leg in Turin. You need to feel free and happy and enjoy the game. Of course, like every game we are going to work and decide on our strategy, but in the end it's a football game and we are going to enjoy it. That is so important, it's an amazing competition. It's the Champions League and we've been fighting in the last few years to be there and play this type of games.”
