Your support makes all the difference.Marouane Fellaini has received a three-game ban as well as a written warning from the Football Association, won’t face extra punishment for refusing to leave the field after his red card in the Manchester derby.
The Manchester United midfielder was sent off for headbutting City’s Sergio Aguero towards the end of Thursday night’s derby at the Etihad.
The Belgian picked up his first yellow card 19 seconds prior after tripping the Argentine before immediately chasing him down and tripping him again after the game restarted.
The pair then clashed heads with Aguero falling to the floor, which garnered an angry reaction from both Fellaini and Jose Mourinho, who suggested that his player was conned.
He said: “I didn’t watch the Fellaini incident on TV but I spoke with Fellaini he thinks it was a red card because he is Fellaini.
“I spoke to Martin [Atkinson] – he thinks it was a red card.
“I can guess it’s a bit of a red card and a bit of a very smart, very experienced Argentinian player.”
After reviewing the footage, the FA decided against any further ban for taking an age to leave the field and as a result, Fellaini will miss United’s next three games, starting with Sunday’s home match with Swansea, before facing Arsenal, then Tottenham, both away from home.
