From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Mark Hughes had endured a frustrating start to his career at Stoke City with the Potters amassing their fewest points total after 27 games since 2008/09 but their 1-0 win against Arsenal has giving him more than one reason to be happy.

Stoke are now up to twelfth in the league, six points clear of the relegation zone, but for Hughes the win has even more importance, as now he is the first manager to defeat the Gunners in the Premier League with four different teams.

Hughes had previously beaten the club in the division with Manchester City (twice), Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers.

Alongside Hughes, only Kenny Dalglish (Blackburn, Liverpool and Newcastle) and Graeme Souness (also with Blackburn, Liverpool, Newcastle) have been victorious against Arsenal with three different teams in the Premier League.

Seven managers have faced the Gunners with at least four different teams in the division - Roy Hodgson, Steve Bruce, Souness, Ron Atkinson, Sam Allardyce, Hughes and Harry Redknapp.

Hughes' Premier League managerial wins against Arsenal:

31 March 2012 QPR 2 Arsenal 1

12 Sept 2009 Man City 4 Arsenal 2

22 Nov 2008 Man City 3 Arsenal 0

25 Feb 2006 Blackburn 1 Arsenal 0

1 March 2014 Stoke 1 Arsenal 0
