Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Louis van Gaal's team will likely have to wear their old Nike kits because that deal doesn't run out until the end of July.
The Daily Mail report that no buy-out agreement exists between Nike and Manchester United, meaning the side will be stuck in their shirts from this season.
With the season scheduled to start on 8 August the club are not likely to want to stay in the US much past the end of July, wary of long flights and possible jet lag.
In fact, the club are going on a much less arduous journey this time, with Louis van Gaal apparently insisting that the side stick to the west coast, rather than travel across the country as they did last summer.
In four matches across 11 days the club travelled from Pasadena, California, to Denver, Colorado, Washington DC and then Ann Arbor, Michigan - a total of more than 3,000 miles before having to fly home.
