From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Manchester United bounced back from last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield to beat top-six rivals Tottenham 1-0 in a dreary encounter at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
It took substitute Anthony Martial's late strike, coming in the last 10 minutes of the game, to separate the two sides following 80 minutes of nervous play.
For large swathes of the match the football on offer matched the weather, but Jose Mourinho's gameplan was eventually vindicated by the French forward.
For Mauricio Pochettino, he'll be left to lament the absence of Harry Kane who was forced to miss today's game through a hamstrung injury.
In his place, Son Heung-min stepped in but failed to provide the visitors with the same directness and attacking nous that his English teammate provides.
United now sit two points behind rivals Manchester City, who play West Brom later today, while Tottenham could find themselves eight points off the pace by the end of the day.
