From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

It’s been quite a while since a Manchester derby held as much significance as tomorrow evening’s clash at Old Trafford.

Compared to last year’s April encounter – which saw United merely delay City's eventual coronation as Premier League champions – the outcome of Wednesday’s tie holds the potential to shape the outcome of this year’s title race.

Should City win, the route will be all-but clear for Pep Guardiola’s men to clinch a second successive title under the Catalan. Should they lose, however, Liverpool will stand as favourites to claim their first-ever Premier League title.

It’s safe to assume, then, that tomorrow’s clash will be no light affair. Expect fireworks.

With that in mind, we look back on some of the most notable and thrilling Manchester derby encounters from the Premier League era.
