From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Manchester United are set to step up their efforts to bring Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero to Old Trafford, according to reports.

Sir Alex Ferguson sent his scouts to Argentina's friendly with Russia earlier this week in order to run the rule over the forward.

United's scouts are likely to have come back with glowing reports with the £30m rated hit-man getting himself on the score-sheet during Argentina's 3-2 win.

Although Ferguson has stated that United's summer spending is over, the failure to bolster their attack following the departures of Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo remains a concern.

According to the reports, United are likely to face competition from Juventus and Inter Milan for the 21-year-old's signature.
