Romelu Lukaku has revealed how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ‘analysis’ of his forward play has helped him return to form for Manchester United.

Lukaku made his first start under Solskjaer in Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Reading and scored United’s second, his third goal in as many games.

The Belgian had previously struggled for consistency under the departed Jose Mourinho, scoring twice in 17 appearances before the Portuguese’s dismissal last month.

Lukaku is happy to be finding the net regularly again but wants to keep improving, and he believes Solskjaer’s methods will help.

“He talks to me all the time, all the time and I like that, and he plays in a way that I like to play, and also the rest of the team,” Lukaku said.

“We are just enjoying our football right now but he wants us to win and we want to win.”

When asked what Solskjaer has focused on, Lukaku said: “Movement-wise, and stuff like that, but obviously he knows the type of striker that I am.

“I think from the first day when I came back in, he did a total analysis of my game and I was really surprised.

“He helped me a lot and I am looking forward to keeping on working with him.”

Lukaku will hope that he has played well enough in his three appearances under Solskjaer so far to earn a first Premier League start next weekend, when United travel to Wembley to play Tottenham Hotspur.

“I just take it one day at a time,” he said.

“I just want to work and help the team in every way that I can. Right now everything is going well, not only for me but for the rest of the team as well and I am delighted.”
