From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Manchester United are exploring the States in their pre-season schedule ahead of the 2014/15 season.

Louis van Gaal's side face some tough opposition on the way including last year's Champions League winners, Real Madrid, in Detriot.

United's journey will take 11,661 miles to complete, the most any Premier League club is travelling this summer.

Their final game before the season gets underway is another big Spanish club, Valencia, as the Red Devils seem to be testing themselves to the fullest in pre-season.

United get their Premier League campaign off and running against Swansea in the early kick-off on the opening day.

United's full schedule is below...

Wednesday July 23: LA Galaxy, Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena

Saturday July 26: Roma, Sports Authority Field, Denver - International Champions Cup

Wednesday July 30: Inter Milan, Fedex Field, Washington - International Champions Cup

Saturday August 2: Real Madrid, Michigan Stadium, Detroit - International Champions Cup

August 12: Valencia, Old Trafford
