United sources say Pogba has around a 50 per cent chance of starting, but the club will assess his situation overnight.
If he is fit, Mourinho is considering returning to a two-man midfield as he attempts to figure out how to play against Liverpool's free-scoring attack.
Pogba will be deployed alongside Nemanja Matic, with Scott McTominay back on the bench, as Juan Mata returns to the side in a high-based position in order to help keep hold of possession.
Ashley Young will start at left-back, with Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling in central defence.
Marouane Fellaini is expected to return to the bench.
