Manchester City Women's striker Toni Duggan has denied reports that she is dating Sergio Aguero, describing them as "ridiculous".

Reports emerged from Argentina this week which stated that Duggan was in a relationship with City striker Aguero, but Duggan has taken to Twitter to deny the claims.

A TV show in Aguero's native Argentina has sparked the rumours that the 27-year-old is dating Duggan, 24, who finished last season as Manchester City Women's FC top scorer.

The show, Infama, ran a segment earlier this week that speculated whether the pair, who have been pictured together on a couple of occasions, are an item.

Duggan responded on Twitter to the question from Michelle Hinnigan, who plays for Everton Ladies.

Aguero is currently out with a hamstring injury and is not expected to return for Manuel Pellegrini's team for about another month.

Manchester City Women finished runners up in the FA Women's Super League, behind Chelsea, who won the title on a thrilling final day.
