Champions Manchester City will trail Premier League leaders Liverpool by four points on Christmas Day after a shock 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace.

Andros Townsend scored one of the goals of the season as Roy Hodgson's inspired Palace came from behind to condemn City to their first league defeat at the Etihad Stadium since April.

Townsend struck with a 30-yard volley after Jeffrey Schlupp had cancelled out Ilkay Gundogan's opener on a rain-soaked afternoon.

A penalty from Luka Milivojevic sealed victory although Kevin De Bruyne's cross-cum-shot gave City, who also hit the post through Leroy Sane, late hope.

The defeat was City's second in three league games and handed the title initiative to Liverpool, whom they face on 3 January. Re-live the action in the blog below:

GOAL! Huddersfield 1-3 Southampton (Michael Obafemi, 71 minutes)

A first Premier League goal for Michael Obafemi!

He had just squandered a good opportunity after being set free in a one-on-one, but on this occasion the young Irish striker receives the cut back from Nathan Redmond and makes no mistake with his finish.

A proud moment for Obafemi, and Southampton are surely now destined for a second consecutive Premier League win.

RED CARD! Lewis Dunk is sent off for a second bookable offence

Bournemouth 1-0 Brighton, 72 minutes

Callum Wilson gets beyond Lewis Dunk, the referee goes to his pocket and Lewis Dunk has no complaints as he trudges off the pitch and down the tunnel.

GOAL! Bournemouth 2-0 Brighton (David Brooks, 77 minutes)

Two for David Brooks, two for Bournemouth - three points secured?

It is a lovely ball into the box by Ryan Fraser that is met brilliantly by Brooks leaping high, beating Mathew Ryan to double the Bournemouth lead.

Anyone for late drama...

GOAL! Manchester City 2-3 Crystal Palace (Kevin De Bruyne, 85 minutes)

From nowhere, Manchester City have a lifeline!

Kevin De Bruyne, off the bench, is trying to cross the ball but seems to overhit it.

However, that only takes the ball curling to the far post and it cannons in off the woodwork.

Perhaps?
