Pep Guardiola on the victory against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup

Manchester City are unable to call upon Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho for Wednesday’s Premier League meeting with West Ham United at the Etihad.

Fernandinho was substituted during Sunday’s EFL Cup final win over Chelsea with a groin problem while Laporte departed with a hamstring issue.

Pep Guardiola only expects the pair to return after the March international break, making them likely to miss City’s next five matches.

John Stones (groin) and Gabriel Jesus (hamstring) did not train with City’s first-team squad on Tuesday and remain out of contention.

Benjamin Mendy could make a full return from his long-standing knee injury, however, having returned to full training.

Claudio Bravo, City’s second-choice goalkeeper, is Guardiola’s only long-term absentee.

Manuel Pellegrini, meanwhile, is delighted to have Manuel Lanzini back in the fold at West Ham after the midfielder completed his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Lanzini made his first appearance of the season against Fulham on Friday, having been injured on international duty with Argentina before last summer’s World Cup.

“We must be careful with him,” Pellegrini said at his pre-match press conference.

“He did very well in his 15 minutes and the important thing was that he was not afraid and remembering his knee, so we will see what the best way is to get minutes in every game.”

Samir Nasri, the former City midfielder, has recovered from a calf problem and is fit to play against his former club at the Etihad.

Fabian Balbuena and Winston Reid remain unavailable with knee injuries, though both have returned to first-team training.

Jack Wilshere, Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko are out of contention.
