Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Luke Shaw is a doubt to play against Arsenal on Saturday after picking up a knock during the England's friendly win against Scotland.
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal could now now be without 12 players for the clash on Saturday evening, with Angel Di Maria also hurting himself on international duty last night.
Shaw was substituted at half-time after picking up a couple of knocks during the game that left his hamstring sore.
The teenager missed the start of the season with a hamstring problem.
However, Shaw said he was "hoping to be fit" for the game at the Emirates.
“I picked up a few knocks during the game and my left hamstring, which I hurt at the start of the season, I could feel a little bit,” he told Sky Sports.
“We had a discussion at half-time over whether to bring me off then but it was a game I didn’t want to come off in so I played the extra 15 minutes and then Roy decided to sub me off.”
As for whether he would be available for Saturday’s game at Arsenal, Shaw added: “We will just have to see but I am hoping to be fit.”
