Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Dutch coach is notoriously known as a slow driver at the Carrington training ground and is said to be so terrified of driving into potholes it has become a running joke.
The players have branded him 'Daisy', according to The Sun - in reference to the Morgan Freeman starring film, Driving Miss Daisy.
The squad reportedly avoid driving behind the 64-year-old as journey's can take much longer.
Speaking after the 2-0 win against West Bromwich Albion, Van Gaal said that he was looking to add 'speed and creativity' to a team that has been criticised for being boring this season.
"I have said already in my first year many times we need speed and creativity on the wings," he said.
"You have seen that now we play with Jesse Lingard and he is not the most speedy winger in the world and (Juan) Mata is also not the most speedy winger in the world. So first we must first address that problem."
