The Portugal international, a summer signing from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been sidelined for more than two months.
But he took part in a full session on Wednesday in a big boost to Jurgen Klopp’s injury-hit squad.
The Premier League champions have battled a number of long-term injuries throughout the season with captain Jordan Henderson the latest to join Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip in the treatment room.
Jota picked up the knee injury against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League in early December.
It curtailed an outstanding start to life at Anfield where he scored nine goals in just 17 appearances.
It remains to be seen when Jota will make his return to the first-team fold with Liverpool next travelling to Sheffield United on Sunday evening.
The Reds will be looking to bounce back after four consecutive Premier League defeats culminating in the 2-0 home loss to Merseyside rivals Everton on Saturday.
