Liverpool teenager Jordon Ibe will play his first game since 26 February after recovering from injury.
Ibe, 19, was hugely impressive for the Reds after returning from a loan spell at Derby, but was injured in the Europa Cup defeat by Besiktas. He will start in place of Markovic at right wing back.
However, there is bad news for Brendan Rodgers with Daniel Sturridge again unfit and not even making the substitutes bench.
Rodgers has made just one other change to the team that was thrashed by Arsenal last week, with £20million defender Dejan Lovren in for Mamadou Sakho.
John Carver will be hoping to improve from a disastrous derby defeat to Sunderland last week and has made three changes.
Mehdi Abeid, Vernon Anita and Gabriel Obertan start in place of Jonas Gutierrez, Yoann Gouffran and Sammy Ameobi, who all drop to the bench.
