From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The match of the weekend comes from Anfield, as Liverpool face the toughest test in their title run-in as Chelsea travel to Merseyside in a game comparable to their title clash five years ago.

That day, Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip led to a 2-0 Chelsea win which ended Liverpool’s 11-game win streak, and they couldn’t recover in the 2014 race.

In 2019 though, there is renewed optimism; the Reds beat Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday, and are on a six-game win streak in all competitions since dropping points at Goodison Park at the beginning of March.

Chelsea grinded out a 1-0 win at Slavia Prague in their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday; they lie in third before the weekend’s action as their battle for Champions League qualification continues.

In September’s reverse fixture, a late Daniel Sturridge wonder goal cancelled out Eden Hazard’s opener, salvaging a point for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
