From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

CHRISTIAN BENTEKE: Despite Benteke providing an obvious presence up front, the Liverpool new boy found it difficult to create chances throughout the game and failed to boss the aerial battles presented by the Stoke centre-halves.

The Britannia proved a limiting venue as the Belgian international couldn’t play to his strengths. Bournemouth’s Goldsands Stadium awaits.

Best stat…

0: The two sides have never met in the league. Liverpool and Bournemouth have faced each other five times in the FA Cup and once, most recently, in the League Cup.

Remember when…

Lazar Markovic somehow squeezed this strike through a crowd of Bournemouth defenders to put Liverpool two goals up during the Reds’ 3-1 FA Cup victory at Goldsands Stadium last year.

Player to watch…

PHILIPPE COUTINHO: The Brazilian’s movement and exquisite touch set the Britannia alight, despite the uncharacteristic passing. Capped by a wonder strike to save the day, Coutinho’s performance against Stoke on Sunday represented maturity, an asset that Liverpool fans will be hoping can rub off on a midfield that, one game into the new season, already looks better equipped than the season before.

Past three-meetings…

Bournemouth 1 (Gosling) Liverpool 3 (Sterling 2, Markovic), League Cup, December 2014

Bournemouth 0 Liverpool 2 (Moses, Sturridge), FA Cup, January 2014

Liverpool 4 (Hateley, Hunt, Thompson, Lawler) Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic 1 (Hughes OG), FA Cup, January 1968

Form guide…
